A satellite is being sent into space to take the temperature of the Earth. Patches of it, anyway. The satellite, to be launched by Elon Musk’s SpaceX in the next few days, has a thermal-imaging camera capable of taking infrared images of anywhere on the planet to a resolution of 3.5 square meters.
