Global Carbon Monitoring
is an automated tool that relies on a combination of public data sources, satellite imagery and big data to compute carbon emissions in near realtime. Kayrros is collaborating with leading climate scientists from Tsinghua University in Beijing, the University of California Irvine and the Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l’Environnement to enrich the Carbon Monitor research project with live activity data for the industry and ground transportation sectors. The result is a comprehensive, global and peer-reviewed state-of-the-art system for tracking fossil fuel carbon emissions at the scale of a country, region or economic sector and paves the way for more detailed emissions monitoring products.

Based on cutting-edge methodology for estimating carbon emissions, Kayrros provides activity measures for carbon-intensive industries and energy production in near realtime, enabling the live reporting of CO2 emissions. This bottom-up approach allows for relevant reaggregation by region or by economic sector.
